6th Annual Photography Competition

Rock Hill – The Arts Council of York County presents its 6th Annual Photography Competition and the 1st Annual Youth Photography Competition at the Center for the Arts in downtown Rock Hill. The deadline for entries is June 5, 4pm.

 

Mark Hamilton, Associate Professor of Fine Arts at Winthrop University, will jury the 6th Annual Photography Exhibition for the Arts Council. Mark earned a BFA in Photography from UNC Charlotte in 1997 and is currently a full-time professor at Winthrop University as well as a fine art and commercial photographer. Mark has exhibited his fine art photography nationally and has had his commercial photography published internationally. Working as a professional photographer in New York City, Mark has owned his own personal business employing clients such as American Express, Avon, DKNY, GQ, Glamour, Ralph Lauren; just to name a few.

 

Entry fees for this year’s adult competition are: Non-member Fee: $15/each photo. Member Fee: $10/each. Those submitting to the Youth Photography Competition must be 17 years or younger and may pay a reduced entry fee: Non-member Fee: $5/photo. Member Fee: $3/photo.

 

Eligible entries for both adult and youth competitions include original images of the photographer’s own work made in the past 2 years. There are no restrictions on subject matter. All images, black & white, color or digital images will be grouped and juried equally. Eligible entries may be traditional or digital photography; mixed media will not be considered. While there is no limit on the number of pieces each artist can submit, a maximum of two pieces per artist may be selected for the juried show.

 

The selected entries will be exhibited in the Dalton Gallery at the Arts Council from June 24-July 30 and recognized at a public reception at the Center for the Arts on June 24 following the Arts Council Annual Meeting.

Awards for the 6th Annual Photography Competition:

1st Place: $500, 2nd Place: $250, 3rd Place: $100

 

Awards for the Youth Photography Competition:

1st Place: $50, 2nd Place: $30, 3rd Place: $20

Collective Visual Arts Exhibition

to benefit the Red Cross Fund for Chile and Haiti

hosted at the Shain Gallery of Dilworth

Project Art Aid is a local organization of artists

working together to bring local solutions to global problems through art and creative expression.

The Shain Gallery is located at 2823 Selwyn Avenue in Charlotte.

Arts Council presents Bluegrass & BBQ at the Community Performance Center in Old Town Rock Hill for some toe-tapping bluegrass music by Hunter Holmes of the Mason Jar Drinkers accompanied by Stephen Crotts on banjo and The Plowboys from Columbia. Enjoy mouth-watering pulled-pork barbeque, blue cheese corn on the cob and more from Dan Huntley and Heath Sessions’ restaurant SMOKE, Blythewood, SC.Tickets are $25 for Arts Council members and $30 for non-members.
